Every year, we hear stories about remarkable CAREGivers who are enhancing the lives of ageing adults throughout the Home Instead network.
The National CAREGiver of the Year Awards Programme recognises individual CAREGivers for their outstanding service to clients around the country.
This year, the independent judging panel had some very difficult decisions to make, as each and every one of our 4,000-strong team of CAREGivers has worked hard to deliver our services to older people in communities around Ireland, during a time when seniors and health care workers have faced unprecedented challenges.
Through their efforts, and willingness to quickly adopt new work practices and additional Covid-19 training, the home care sector has managed to keep infection rates associated with care delivery to a minimum.
The winners, revealed at a Virtual Awards Ceremony, are:
- Leinster: Suzanne Deegan, Home Instead Rathfarnham
- Connacht: Sheila Hegarty, Home Instead Sligo
- Ulster: Liz McMenamin, Home Instead Donegal
- Munster: Joan Doherty, Home Instead Cork South
Joan also received the National CAREGiver of the Year Award.
The CAREGivers each received a hamper containing gifts such as a weekend away in the Europe Hotel, Killarney and a range of goodies to enjoy with their families.
“On behalf of the entire Home Instead network in Ireland, I’d like to congratulate Suzanne, Liz, Sheila and Joan,” said Shane Jennings, COO at the Home Instead National Office in Dublin.
“Every one of our CAREGivers has been fantastic throughout such a challenging year and we are super proud of them all. The winners went above and beyond what’s expected of them, and we hope that they and their families get some joy from this well-deserved recognition,” Shane said.
