We’re making a ‘great place to work’ even better!
We at Home Instead Senior Care in Cork South know that a happy CAREGiver is key to a happy client, and we’re always looking for new ways to ensure our office is a great place to work.
And who better to help us achieve this than our dedicated CAREGivers themselves?
Right now, we’re surveying our CAREGivers as part of our annual PEAQ (Pursuing Excellence by Advancing Quality) programme, and we’ll be listening carefully to their feedback so that we can continue to improve their working environment.
Meanwhile, we’d like to share some of the actions taken after last year’s survey, as part of our ‘You Said, We Did’ action plan.
Be mindful, not mind-full
It takes a very special personality to become a CAREGiver – and even the most experienced CAREGiver in the world will have emotionally challenging days.
So we provided our CAREGivers with mindfulness sessions, relaxation classes and self-care skills workshops.
The result? Even happier CAREGivers who feel supported both inside and outside of the workplace and whose smiles and warmth bring cheer to their clients every day.
Our CAREGivers told us that opportunities for professional development were very important to them – while they are by nature concerned with the wellbeing of others, it’s only right that they feel confident and competent in their provision of care.
So we rolled out a series of professional training opportunities to support CAREGiver development which resulted in the provision of more diverse, and sometimes complex care. We began work on a CAREGiver Ambassador Programme, which creates career advancement opportunities for outstanding CAREGivers. And we continued our long tradition of promoting internally – almost 40% of our office staff started out as CAREGivers.
The result? Our CAREGivers can see a clear pathway to career success and promotion, which only adds to the sense of satisfaction they get from their jobs.
Join our caring team and bring your friends!
With so many of our CAREGivers telling us that Home Instead Cork South was a ‘great place to work’, we wanted to encourage them to tell their caring friends too!
So we launched our ‘Refer a Friend, Reward Yourself’ scheme, which rewards CAREGivers whose similarly minded friends join our team.
The result? We’ve added a new crop of fantastic CAREGivers to our growing team, which continues to delight our clients; we’re well-equipped to cater to growing homecare needs all over Cork South; and our reputation as a great place to work has only strengthened.
