Speaking about her nomination, Breda Fox said: “I am delighted to be named Caregiver of the Year in Galway. It is wonderful to be recognised and to know that all of my hard work is being acknowledged. To be honest, this win has made me more confident in the work I do with older people in the local community. It is a great honour”.
In the short time Breda has been working with Home Instead Senior Care, she has managed to make a real impact in the lives of Galway seniors. “What Breda does for me is outstanding. When I am unable to walk unaided she tirelessly helps me shower, washes my hair, and changes my bed which needs to be done every few days. Then there are a whole other list of things shopping, washing, cooking tasks she takes on for me”,
said one local senior. “My relationship with Breda is very warm and caring. I find that even on days or times she is not due to be with me, she offers and often goes to the chemist or doctor to pick up urgent prescriptions which due to my illness happen frequently. That is so selfless and so kind”
, she continued.
