What is relationship-based care?
Apr 04, 2022

While Ireland is fortunate to have a wide range of care options for its ageing population, home care is, among ageing adults and their loved ones, the preferred choice. This preference is a proof-point of the quality of care and support provided through at-home care.

RELATIONSHIP-BASED CARE
Relationship-based care is at the core Home Instead’s home care offering. It is person-centred care, focused on providing a care solution that is tailored to the individual needs of you or your loved-one.

GETTING STARTED
Relationship-based care starts with a Care Consultation with a Home Instead Care Manager. A care plan is created, implemented, and then regular monitored through Quality Assurance visits.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Quality Assurance (QA) visits from Care Managers are vital in ensuring that the changing needs of you or your loved-one are consistently being met.

Each visit is an opportunity for the Care Manager to listen and learn about your or your loved-one’s likes, dislikes, as well as any changes to day-to-day needs.

HOME CARE
Home Care is care provided in your or you loved-one’s home by a professional CAREGiver. This often someone who has personal experience of caring for an ageing relative or spouse. Assistance provided includes:

  • meal preparation
  • light housekeeping
  • medication reminders
  • assistance with trips to the doctor
  • errands and shopping
  • specialised Alzheimer’s and dementia care

LIVE-IN CARE
If you or loved-one needs greater support at home, Home Instead can provide Live-In Care. This sees a CAREGiver moving into the home, providing assistance and companionship throughout the day, and sleeping in a guest bedroom at night.

The CAREGiver is on active duty for seven hours a day, six days a week, with cover provided by Home Instead for the CAREGiver’s day off.

Live-in CAREGivers are fully vetted, have excellent references, and receive comprehensive training.

Up to 40% of the costs of a live-in care can be reduced through tax relief.
