New website launched to help seniors stay active

01/03/2010 11:02:39

A new website has been launched by Home Instead Senior Care to help seniors stay active and independent. The website, www.getmommoving.com, offers free activity cards with exercises for the mind, body and soul. The idea behind the new online tool is to keep seniors' bodies and minds strong so they stay active and live independently in their own home for as long as possible.

Free activity cards include mind games like working puzzles and simple exercises like walking and leg chair lifts to help keep seniors becoming weak or frail. "There are many older people who are literally trapped in the home because they are too weak to perform many of the activities they need to remain independent, or even enjoy life. I hope the activity cards encourage seniors to become more active and improve their health", says Ed Murphy of Home Instead Senior Care.

Recent research from Home Instead Senior Care reveals 90% of seniors are afraid of losing their independence and a further 74% say that staying physically active is a major challenge. This lack of activity can lead to a downward spiral of health resulting in many seniors weak and frail.
