SPEAKER: Joanne Flood (Dementia Care Specialist)

A Profile of Joanne Flood - Our Community Education Officer
Joanne Flood recently joined Home Instead Senior Care as Community Education and Development Officer
in our Belfield office. Joanne's approach in this position will be twofold: Firstly she will be responsible for the
assessment of any clients referred to Home Instead Senior Care with memory problems, cognitive impairment
and/or a diagnosed dementia with a view to ascertaining care needs. Secondly, Joanne will be an education
resource for both healthcare professionals in primary care and the general public via resource material and
through presentations and public talks in the near future.

Joanne is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with 10 years experience in Dementia care in Acute Care Settings, Liaison Psychiatry, Gerontological Nursing, Long Term Care Settings,and more recently working in the community as a Dementia Nurse Specialist within Psychiatry of Old Age in North County Dublin. Joanne has completed a PG Dip in Gerontological Nursing and an MSc in Mental Health of Older people. Joanne is currently undertaking a PhD in community Dementia care through DCU.
