Danette is Waterford’s Network Business Woman of the Year

17/07/2009 00:00:00

Congratulations to Danette Connolly, Managing Director of Home Instead Senior Care in Waterford on winning 'Network Business Woman of the Year in Waterford'

In 1998 Danette Connolly arrived in Waterford from New Zealand armed with a nursing qualification and began work in the Intensive Care Unit of Waterford Regional Hospital. However, while in Waterford, Danette recognised a gap in the nursing recruitment market and in November 1999 (NAS) Nursing and Allied Services opened its doors.

In a few short years Nursing and Allied Services established itself as the South East’s leading nursing recruitment agency.

However, not being content with one successful business Danette also acquired International Nurses Abroad (INA), which places nursing staff in Australia, New Zealand and the US. She subsequently developed a state of the art training facility at the Cleaboy Business Park which provides training services to health professionals, manual handling training to all business sectors, manual handling and patient handling to the healthcare organisations and First Aid Training to individuals and groups.

It is testimony to Danette’s drive and ambition that has established her as one of Waterford’s leading business women and this week she was recognised as Waterford’s Network Business Woman of the Year.

According to Danette “Since arriving in Waterford I have always felt at home here. Waterford is such a pleasant place to do business and once you develop a good rapport with suppliers, clients, and business peers the opportunities to expand and diversify become more attainable.”

“I’m delighted to receive the award and am looking forward to representing Waterford at the national finals which take place in October.”

In January of this year Danette and her husband Michael brought the highly successful Home Instead franchise to Waterford. Home Instead provides non-medical care to seniors in their own homes. The international vision of Home Instead Senior Care is to ‘Change the face of aging’

Part of her vision for Waterford is that each community, be it business, sporting or social, has an AED (automated external defibrillator) with competent AED and CPR instructors. NAS is currently establishing a database of companies and sports clubs that have AED’s and a database of people trained in CPR. The information will be made available to the public and through all business networks such as Waterford Chamber, Waterford City Enterprise Board and SEBIC.
