Our History

Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead, Inc. and began serving seniors in Omaha, Nebraska as Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. It was Paul Hogan's own family experience caring for his grandmother for 12 years that made him realise the need for home care and elder companionship services to help seniors live independently at home.

In June 1995, the company began franchising. By 1998, Home Instead Senior Care had grown to 99 offices and was recognised by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the 100 fastest growing franchise companies. Today, the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network is the world's largest and most trusted source of home care for seniors, with more than 800 franchises throughout the world.

In June 2005, Ed Murphy and Michael Kearney opened the first Home Instead Senior Care office in Ireland. There are now 17 independently owned and operated franchise offices throughout the country.

Home Instead Senior Care in Ireland has received a range of awards including the  'Best Emerging Franchise Award' in 2006 and 'Business Service Award' in 2008. The organisation was also a Finalist in the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

Today, the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network employs nearly 50,000 trained CAREGivers who provide millions of hours of elder care services annually. Dependability, quality of care and accountability have earned Home Instead Senior Care a deep level of trust with clients, their family members and friends, and thousands of home health care, assisted living, medical and social senior care organisations throughout the world.
